Due to uncertain finances, Sam can't travel home for Thanksgiving to be with family. When his mother calls to check in, with occasional interjections from Sam's younger brother Steve, they run through a catalog of concerns. From aging parents to family members losing feet to diabetes, from long-dead friends to interpersonal estrangements, from trying to rein in chaotic personal finances to the moral implications of living on formerly Native American land, the concept of Thanksgiving has a different feeling to it this year.
(Though the roles of Sam and Steve were originally written as male, one or both of them could also be female. Mix and match as you like)
