ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Jason...

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Princess.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I'm not a princess anymore.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

You are to me.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I need to talk to you about something.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Of course.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Something important.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Something mysterious.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Don't tease me.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

I like teasing you.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

It's hard to concentrate when you look at me the way you do.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Shall I look away?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

No. Don't look away. Don't ever look away.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Then you'll have to concentrate extra hard, won't you?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

The night we left my brother's body behind in the sea...

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Yes...

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

The night I didn't wish to be alone...

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

The night you came to visit my cabin.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I shouldn't have.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

I'm glad you did.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I, too.
There have been many months since that night.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Many nights since that night.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Yes.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Do you regret those nights?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

No.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Is there something I did...?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

No.
Well, yes, I suppose.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Something I can do...?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I'm not sure.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Not sure. Of me?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I don't expect anything of you.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

You have a right to.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

The men look at me strangely.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

They know they wouldn't be alive if it weren't for you.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

And you.
And my brother.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

They see the way I look at you.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

You make me almost forget what I came here to say.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

If it means you'll stay here, by my side, until you remember, then I'll be happy to keep making you forget.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Those nights...

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Yes...

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Something did happen.
I am...
with child.
Your child.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

A child?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

Are you angry?

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

Angry? Why would I be angry?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

We didn't plan it. We didn't even talk about it.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

A child from two people of royal blood. A child born of our nights together. How could that be anything but a blessing?

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I'm not trying to trap you.

ACTOR 2 (Jason)

If you were, it is a trap I would gladly enter.

ACTOR 1 (Medea)

I hope it's a boy.
