THE SETUP
In an argument they had, Gabby asked Vincent who he sees when he closes his eyes when they make love. Now, a day or so later, Vincent makes his apology to her.
“It’s whenever I’m with you. Hand in hand or halfway across the room. Things make sense.”
VINCENT
We both said some things the other day —
Let me finish. You asked me what I saw when I closed my eyes.
I see heaven.
Or the closest thing to it that I can believe in. And it’s not just when I’m inside you. It’s whenever I’m with you. Hand in hand or halfway across the room. Things make sense. It feels like there’s a plan.
The fact that you came into my life when you did, that you’re still in my life. Somebody, something did that. I believe in luck, but nobody’s that lucky.
You’re the closest I get to believing in God.
